When you're used to something and changing it seems daunting, it can be hard to change, especially when you have loads of content.
Updating to something modern and secure can be a daunting task, especially when you have a large, public school website with loads of pages that’s been managed by lots of different people with varying degrees of expertise and no security or management protocols in place.

IES Puig de Sa Font in Son Servera, Mallorca is a wonderful public school, but its website had fallen behind as it still used the ancient and insecure version of Joomla that the government had provided to manage their website. Throughout the years, it had fallen into disrepair on the back end as well, as it had been managed by multiple users without an established protocol to maintain quality and security.
The first thing was to analyze the site and its content. It led us to finding a number of malicious scripts and viruses, which we proceeded to purge from the system. There were also a number of abandoned platforms and resources which were affecting the system and held privacy concerns. After cleaning up the server, securely backing up what needed to be secured, we proceeded to migrate to a new, modern platform that was more secure and easier to manage, and could also provide a number of online, educational resources while maintaining an even lower budget – an important consideration for a school, especially a public one.
In the migration process, we also redesigned the look and feel of the website, as well as its content architecture for easier navigation and access to the large amount of content on the site. We also developed management and security protocols for the school to follow, in order to make it easier for administrators to keep the platform up to date, clean, and secure.
This was a fun and challenging project, which we were very happy to work on.
